Our Story

Before it was a brand, it was hers.

She was born in Alexandria and later made her life in Marsa Matrouh. She did not teach care. She lived it so naturally it became part of the house itself. What I know about comfort, protection, scent, and daily tenderness began there.
The name

A name that carries more than it says.

In Arabic, Rauhia carries four meanings: soul, breath, inner ease, and the quiet trace a presence leaves behind

My grandmother held all four without naming them. You felt it in the way she softened a room, cared without asking to be seen, and left calm behind her.

That is why the brand bears her name. Because it already meant something lived.

The Woman Behind the Name

RAUHIA

Some of my favorite memories of her are from early morning. The light was soft. The house was still. I can still picture the frankincense in her fingers before she lit it, then the scent as she moved it around our heads as children, the smoke turning the room warm and resinous, making you feel protected without a word.

She was strong enough to take hard decisions. Resilient without becoming hard. Generous, deeply kind, and the kind of woman people turned to. I grew up watching her. Long before I understood it, I was already learning from her.

The Place

Marsa Matrouh gave the story a home. Siwa gave it a source.

After marrying my grandfather, my grandmother moved from Alexandria to Marsa Matrouh. That is where family life deepened around materials, trade, and place.

My grandfather was a gifted trader. By twenty nine, he had built the first hotel in Marsa Matrouh and was already running several shops. One of them was a herbalist shop sourcing from Siwa and selling in Matrouh.

What came from Siwa entered daily life already known by touch, scent, weight, and use. So when Rauhia begins with Egypt, it begins with a lived relationship between land, trade, and home.

Heritage and Ingredients

What stayed was not only what she used. It is how she lived with it.

Care, in her world, meant protection as much as comfort. She used oils on herself and on us. She used salt not only for the body, but in cleaning the house. Nothing was wasted or used carelessly. The home was treated as something living. The body was listened to. Scent became part of memory.

That way of living still guides Rauhia. We begin with what has been touched, trusted, and kept close.
